If you’re evaluating whether to outsource support for your IBM Sterling Order Management System (IBM OMS) or Yantra Order Management solution, read on. Recently our customer Jay Hemmady, CIO of OIA Global, a provider of freight forwarding and logistics solutions, offered Jim Bengier, our Chief Customer Officer, with some insight into the ongoing IBM OMS support provided by Bridge Solutions Group. Thank you Jay!
Jim Bengier: Tell me about OIA?
Jay Hemmady: OIA is a leading supply chain management company providing service offering of Materials, Packaging and Logistics. For over 25 years, we’ve provided reliable freight forwarding and logistics solutions for major international companies, with a large portfolio of services including in-land transportation, multi-modal capabilities and warehousing and distribution.
Jim Bengier: How long have you worked with Bridge Solutions Group?
Jay Hemmady: In 2014, our business team reached out to Bridge Solutions Group about a Service Request approve issue. The Bridge Solutions Group support team got involved and fixed the Order Management System (OMS) problems.
Later in Dec 2014, Bridge Solutions Group worked to fix a few more issues. After Bridge Solutions Group successfully deployed the fixes, we signed a Managed Services contract.
Jim Bengier: What version of Sterling OMS are you using?
Jay Hemmady: OIA has been running on older Yantra7x version and Bridge Solutions Group has been supporting since 2014. To contain costs, support has been provided in a combination of onshore and offshore model.
Jim Bengier: How would you rate Bridge Solutions Group’s service?
Jay Hemmady: Even though we’re using a no longer supported OMS version, Bridge Solutions Group has the experience to maintain a high level of service. The support has been so good that there has not been a need to upgrade to a later version of OMS.
Jim Bengier: How many distribution centers are using the OMS product?
Jay Hemmady: Primarily Bridge Solutions Group provides support for two of our warehouses, one near Portland and other one in Taipei, Taiwan. These facilities receive 24/7 support.
Jim Bengier: Within your business model has there been any additional complexity that Bridge Solutions Group was able to solve?
Jay Hemmady: We use Glassfish and have had some issues with it integrating into our version of Yantra/Sterling OMS. Though Bridge did not have any knowledge of OIA’s custom Glassfish application, Bridge studied that in limited time and was able to provide the necessary fix and is now in a position to resolve issues pertaining to that as well. This is just one example of Bridge going the extra mile for us.

It’s always great when you can find an IT consulting partner that can support both older and newer technology, and figure out how to integrate them. Bridge Solutions Group has given me confidence that we will have the support we need so we can focus on what we do best, both now, and in the future.
